The past decade has seen a big change in the weight loss sector. Ever since the procedure was first introduced around 1993, is has been perfected and even spawned other less invasive but still effective techniques. The thought of losing 100 pounds in a time span of just six months was previously impossible for many morbidly obese patients. It was originally thought to be unhealthy to eat less than 1200 calories and to lose weight too quickly. But as doctors weighed the health effects that come with morbid obesity, the surgery seemed the smarter way to deal with the situation.
